Deputy Political Director (Detroit office)

We think differently about politics. We’re interested in building long-term power for community organizations and integrating civic engagement and community organizing. We’re passionate about organizing communities around the issues they care about, and connecting those issue back to elections. We’re laser-focused on ensuring that communities that are typically ignored during elections have their voice heard. Statewide Organizing Director (Detroit Office)

The Organizing Director will help lead the senior team, and oversee multiple organizing departments. The Organizing Director will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of campaigns across the organization, recruitment of new members, leadership development, and mentorship of organizers. This is a senior-level position with significant responsibility for managing department heads and helping to guide the growth, development, and strategy of the organization. (Read more…)

West Michigan Regional Organizing Director

The West Michigan Regional Organizing Director will be responsible for managing a team of community organizers and service providers in Kalamazoo and Grand Rapids in a way that contributes to the growth and sustainability of Michigan United on the west side of the state. In addition, this person will lead the charge for growing the presence of Michigan United in West Michigan and surrounding communities through raising money and expanding our relationship with churches, labor unions, community organizations, and individuals. This person will serve on the organization’s senior leadership team as the voice for the west side of the state managing 3 organizers, and will work closely with the Detroit-based Executive Director and the Development Director. Metro-Detroit and West Michigan Caring Majority Organizers

The Caring Majority Organizer would work as part of the Care Department to build a strong coalition of institutional partners in their area. These partners will include faith organizations, labor unions, disability rights and health care reform organizations, as well as care providers. The Organizer will work with the department director to engage these partners in a powerful advocacy strategy to advance our campaign through the legislature. (Read more…)
