NIIC 2019 Expo Coordinator
Location:
Will need to be onsite at NIIC in Detroit, MI October 19-22, 2019
Compensation:
Negotiable rate based on experience or a straight 20% commission of Expo income
Now in its 12th year, NIIC is the largest conference on immigrant and refugee issues in the U.S. and plays a central role in the powerful, diverse and broad immigrant and refugee rights and integration field. A core project of the National Partnership for New Americans (NPNA) and its member organizations—39 of the largest regional immigrant rights organizations in 28 states—NIIC convenes policymakers, academics, corporate and community leaders, researchers and practitioners, faith and labor leaders and funders from across the country. The conference, which runs for three days, includes plenary sessions on the mainstage, over 30 break-out issue area track sessions, affinity group caucuses for informal networking and strategizing, film screenings, author talks, and more.
NIIC 2019 is currently hiring for a temporary, part-time Expo Coordinator June 2019-November 2019 to build and execute the NIIC Expo, a vibrant space that showcases businesses, products, services, art and crafts of interest to, produced/owned by and/or servicing immigrant and refugee communities and communities of color. This is a contract position, begins immediately, and work can be conducted from anywhere in the US, though NIIC has a strong preference to make a hire from Detroit or MI if possible (additional preferences are for someone located in Chicago or NYC). The Expo Coordinator will work closely with our national team and report to the NIIC Conference Coordinator and NPNA’s Chief of Staff. Compensation is negotiable and may include a base rate based on experience or a straight 20% commission of Expo income; a daily rate for onsite conference days and related lodging will also be provided.
