Director of Movement Politics

Location: Michigan residents preferred. Will consider out-of-state applicants if willing to relocate and have a political landscape and knowledge of the state of Michigan.

Compensation: $56,000 - $58,000 annualized equivalent, health insurance, health savings
account, generous paid time off, two-month paid sabbatical after 4 years

Job Summary

The current political system is built around power structures that aren’t working for the average person, it will be the goal of the Movement Politics department to help change that. The Director of Movement Politics (DMP) will lead the most innovative and powerful electoral community organizing in the state of Michigan. The DMP will be responsible for the strategic visioning and planning needed to build power and influence on a local, state, and national level.
This is required to advance bold ideas and win real reforms for our organizing base.

 

 

Michigan Hometown Voices Program Director

Location: All Michigan locations will also be considered

Compensation: $50,000 annually

Benefits:  Health care, Health savings account, Internet and Phone Stipends retirement plan, generous paid time off, two-month paid sabbatical after 4 years of service, phone and travel stipends.

Job Summary

The Michigan Hometown Voices Program Director will be responsible for inspiring, directing, and managing an organizing program composed of both grassroots community organizing policy campaigns and an ongoing deep canvass initiative (paid & volunteer). This person will serve on the organization’s senior leadership team as the voice for the campaign. The Program Director will work closely with organizers, canvass leads, and Organizing Directors to implement strategy, membership, and fundraising work plans.

 

Environmental Justice Organizer

Location: Metro Detroit preferred (currently working remotely)

Compensation: $36,000 annualized

Job Summary

Michigan United is working to train community leaders to win just and fair policy changes that will improve air quality and clean water.  Everyone deserves clean air and water and the ability to enjoy our state’s natural beauty. We are fighting for clean air in Michigan. When we fight, we win!  The Statewide Environmental Justice Organizer will organize residents, community groups, and stakeholders that are impacted by these issues in order to build the power necessary to change policy. The organizer will work to build public support and strategy for local, state, and federal campaigns around Environmental Justice.

 

 

Democracy Organizer

Location: Metro Detroit preferred (currently working remotely)

Compensation: $40,000 annualized equivalent, health insurance, health savings account, generous paid time off, two-month paid sabbatical after 4 years of service, phone and internet stipends.

Job Summary

The Democracy Organizer will work in issue areas with leaders that currently exist and while organizing new leaders to be part of this discussion and take action. The focus is to find and engage those who might not always be involved in these conversations, but voices are desperately needed to ensure their communities aren’t left behind while these decisions are being made.
