Environmental Justice Organizer

Location: Metro Detroit preferred (currently working remotely)

Compensation: $36,000 annualized

Job Summary

Michigan United is working to train community leaders to win just and fair policy changes that will improve air quality and clean water.  Everyone deserves clean air and water and the ability to enjoy our state’s natural beauty. We are fighting for clean air in Michigan. When we fight, we win!  The Statewide Environmental Justice Organizer will organize residents, community groups, and stakeholders that are impacted by these issues, in order to build the power necessary to change policy. The organizer will work to build public support and strategy for local, state, and federal campaigns around Environmental Justice.

 

 

 

Democracy Organizer

Location: Metro Detroit preferred (currently working remotely)

Compensation: $40,000 annualized equivalent, health insurance, health savings account, generous paid time off, two-month paid sabbatical after 4 years of service, phone and internet stipends.

Job Summary

Michigan is at a moment where many elements of our democracy are part of day-to-day conversation. Michigan United and Michigan People’s Campaign are engaging community members and leaders in this conversation.

Flint Public Health Navigator

Location: Flint

Part-time, Temporary (6 months) 
Compensation: $15 an hour

Job Summary

The Michigan United grassroots Public Health Navigator program has been in partnership with the Genesee County Health Department since its inception in May 2020. The work of our Navigators is incredibly important as we enter the second year of the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly in light of the urgent need for large-scale vaccination to overcome the virus. Many of the communities that are most vulnerable to COVID-19 have the least access to information and resources to protect themselves and their families.

Detroit Public Health Navigator

Location: Detroit

Full time, Temporary (6 months) 

Compensation: $15 an hour

Hometown Voices Organizer

Job Summary

We are seeking a full-time organizer to build the capacity of residents in trial Michigan to engage in impactful local organizing. This work will be conducted in several counties across rural areas and small-towns in Michigan to build community power, understand issues impacting small-town and rural communities, and organize with people most impacted by intersecting hardships. Voices team is looking to develop a strong, active base of individual leaders that expands our listening campaign. We envision rebuilding our democracy by inviting people in small towns and rural areas to come together and address issues that are impacting our communities and bridge the gap between rural, urban, and suburban areas.
