Immigrant Rights Organizer

Location: Metro-Detroit

Full time

Compensation: $35,568 annually

Immigrant families, students, and workers are a vital part o four communities and deserve the chance to live in dignity, not in fear.  Unfortunately, our country is growing increasingly hostile to immigrants – deportations have increased dramatically, children are being separated from their parents, Muslims and refugees are being targeted and students and workers don't have the chance to reach their full potential.  We work with grassroots immigrant leaders to oppose these unjust policies, and advocate for something better: a country, a state, and a community where everyone has a fair chance, no matter where you come from.

Elder & Disability Justice Organizer

Location: Detroit

Full Time
Compensation: $35,568

Michigan United is working to win a next generation safety net for our elders and those with disabilities. Long-term care is a massively growing need in our country, and most families simply have no way to pay for this enormous expense. The cost of long-term care is bankrupting those who need care, as well as their children and families. The only safety program is Medicaid, which requires that patients spend all of their life's savings to qualify. That's not right.

2020 will be one of the most important elections in our state’s history. Community political organizers are working to ensure that everyone is able to have their voice heard at the polls on election day. Organizers will work primarily with those that have been most marginalized by the political process. Our goal is not just to encourage voting, but to build the capacity of these communities to win change in their lives after the election through community organizing.
