Voices for Vaccines Canvasser

About the Voices for Vaccines Coalition
Michigan Voices, Michigan United, Detroit Action, Detroit Change Initiative, Our Own Wall Street, Labor Council for Latin American Advancement, Michigan Coalition for Black Civic Participation, Better Men Outreach, and Community AIDS Resources and Education of Southwest Michigan are partnering together in the Voices for Vaccines Coalition. The Voices for Vaccines Coalition organizing effort addresses barriers to access and/or vaccine hesitancy by Michigan residents, especially Black, Indigenous, and People of Color living in medically underserved areas with low vaccination rates. Through a layered program, the Coalition will reach out to 320,000 families statewide to serve as trusted messengers in the communities in which partners have historically engaged educating community members about the COVID vaccine and providing resources to ensure access to vaccination.
About the Position
We are seeking enthusiastic canvassers that will work directly with a Voices for Vaccines Coalition partner to go door to door in neighborhoods to share COVID-19 vaccine information in a nonjudgmental manner, provide resources, and address barriers to accessing vaccinations, and to encourage your community to get vaccinated.
Primary Responsibilities
This is an entry-level position.
In this position, you will have the opportunity to work with a Voices for Vaccines partner organization to go door-to-door to address issues around vaccine hesitancy, provide resources and encourage your community to get vaccinated.
Requirements:

There is no formal education requirement for this position

Excellent communication skills, including active listening and interpersonal skills, ∙ Must have the physical stamina to stand/walk for extended periods (up to 5 hours per day) while meeting and talking to people

Flexibility to work weekdays and weekends

Ability to memorize and recite scripts and statements prepared and provided by Michigan Voices regarding COVID-19 vaccines

Ability to collect information for others to follow up regarding vaccination status and for quality control

Consistently meet daily and weekly door goals.

Understand how to use a tablet to track and submit data

Ability to work within a team and in a field environment

Good time management skills

Proof of Covid vaccination or undergo regular testing
Preferred Skills:

Previous experience with data entry and reporting functions

Previous paid or volunteer canvass experience (including Census outreach work) ∙ Social service or organizing experience

Telemarketing or retail marketing experience

Candidates with ties and familiarity with any of the following regions are strongly encouraged to apply: Wayne, Berrien, Ingham, Saginaw, Genessee, and Calhoun Counties.
Salary and Benefits:

This is an hourly employment position, with an hourly rate of $17.00/hr. This is a short-term position with a maximum of 25 hours per week.
